Community Interest Company
Transforming kitchens into platforms of empowerment. We turn the culinary strength already present in migrant households into opportunity, dignity, and shared prosperity.
Why We Exist
Many migrant and refugee women are gifted cooks, rooted in rich culinary traditions. Yet they face language barriers, social isolation, and a lack of UK-recognised qualifications — leaving remarkable talent untapped and undervalued.
Shåanti Foundation exists to change that.
How We Work
Structured chef programmes for migrant and refugee women — from Food Safety Level 2 certification to professional kitchen skills, menu planning, and business basics. Participants graduate with recognised qualifications and real confidence.
A community kitchen where meals are cooked by programme graduates. Pay what you can afford — no one is turned away. Cultural cuisines rotate weekly, creating a living classroom and a warm, inclusive dining space.
Every penny of trading surplus is reinvested into small grants (£250–£2,000) for local grassroots projects — prioritising women-led and migrant-led initiatives that need a little seed funding to grow.
Beyond training, we build community. A supportive peer network that reduces isolation, builds friendships across cultures, and creates lasting connections within Sheffield.
